Temple Bar is an investment trust - a company whose business is the holding of and management of a portfolio of shares in other businesses.
Temple Bar is one of the oldest investment trusts, having been launched in 1926. It is an independent company with a board of directors whose responsibility is to seek the best investment returns for its shareholders.
Currently, it aims to satisfy this objective with a portfolio of medium to large UK listed companies. An additional objective is the generation of a reasonable level of income, and this causes the investment portfolio to target higher yielding equities.
Several years ago the directors of Temple Bar decided that it would be more cost efficient to sub-contract certain functions. As a consequence, they appointed Investec Asset Management to carry out the day to day fund management and marketing of the Trust, and appointed Lloyds TSB Registrars to administer the Savings Scheme through which investors may purchase Temple Bar shares without paying stockbroker fees.
