The Irish Stock market's published index of shares is called the ISEQ Overall Index (Irish Stock Exchange Quotient). However the Irish stock exchange does publish other indices that include the ISEQ 20 Index, the ISEQ Financial Index, the ISEQ General Index and the ISEQ Small Cap Index.
Background of the Irish Stock Market
The London Stock Exchange is one of the oldest in the world and can trace its history back to around 300 years. While the Irish Stock Exchange's history goes back to 1793 when the Irish stock market first opened for trading in Dublin.
More recently in 1973, the Irish Stock Exchange became part of the International Stock Exchange of Great Britain and Ireland. But then regained independence in 1995, when the present Irish Stock Exchange was established.
