Major Shareholders

Outlines who the major shareholders of a company are. Includes all shareholders that own more than 3% of a company's share capital. This can be either a fund management company such as Capital Group (as above) or a director of the company.
Under the 1985 Companies Act a company must disclose when:
- A stake in a company reaches 3%
- The stake rises through each full percentage point
- The stake falls through each percentage point
The disclosure is carried out via the Regulatory News Service along with a full list of major shareholder being provided in a company's annual report and accounts. For non-beneficial shareholdings the rules are slightly different in that notification of a stake must be made when it reaches 10%.
