Covered Warrants

The Covered Warrants section has been totally revamped, giving a summarisation of the various types of warrants available and the advantages and disadvantages to the investor. Search and select a company that holds Covered Warrants to see the current strike value and change in daily price. Select the company name to view fundamental data.

Sharing News Content

Share the latest Hemscott News Comment by either emailing a friend or adding to various share content sites including Del.icio.us, Newsvine, Digg and Furl.

Currencies

The currency page has been updated to include a number of new foreign exchanges. Simply select a currency from the drop-down menu and click "Submit". Results will be shown below and after the Yen currency.

World Markets

Three new pages have been added to the Markets channel giving in-depth and current information about the world markets. The new pages include UK Markets, US Markets, and World Markets.

Each new page includes a daily summary of how an index has performed throughout the day, giving the recent index value, percentage change, the highs and lows. Click an index link and view companies prices within that index.

Each index is represented by three graphs depicting the performance over a period of time including Today, One Month and One Year.

Ticker

All UK Indexes are displayed within the ticker application, this is shown on the Hemscott home page, the Companies channel, News channel and the Markets landing page. Click the index value or select 'More' and this will take you to the UK Markets page. Please note that price information is delayed by 20 minutes.

Search US Companies A-Z

You can refine your company search specifically for US firms and all featured results are listed on either the NYSE or NASDAQ. Simply select a letter of the alphabet and a list of results will be displayed. Click on any listed company to access key details and fundamental data.

We have completely overhauled Hemscott Portfolio, to give the service a fresh new look and to increase ease of use. Accounts & Ratios for Investment Companies

The Accounts & Ratios page for Investment companies has been extensively improved. The page is now divided into three tables including Accounts, Ratios and Comparative Years.

• Accounts - The financial accounts table is comprehensive with additional fields and values. The format of the table runs more coherently to how the financial accounts are released.
• Ratios - Data contained includes Return of Earnings, Payout Rate, Asset Gearing, Discount and Gross Yield. Ratios are based on financial year-end accounts, for explanations and ratio calculations please view Financial Glossary.
• Comparative Years - Data provided is produced on a monthly basis with information indicating the value of return on investments if £100 was invested one, five or ten years ago in that company.

We have completely overhauled the Hemscott.com website, to give the site a fresh new look, and make it even easier to use. At the same time we have added new features and improved existing functionality.

The most obvious thing about the site is that it's bigger and bolder. We've kept the colours simple so that the data is easy to read. The site is wider to make more use of screen space. If you have any problems seeing the new website in all its glory, please refer to our Technical Questions help page.

New navigation

To make it quicker to move around the website, we have reassessed the site structure, and added new navigation. The top navigation bar, in blue, has a button for each 'channel' of the website. When you are within that channel, the button will be depressed to indicate where you are.

The top navigation is mirrored down the left hand side of the page for your convenience. When you are within a given section, this section is indicated in orange, and the various pages for that section are available to click on underneath this item. Sometimes a third level of pages becomes available.

To aid your general navigation around the different pages, we have added a 'breadcrumb trail' underneath the top navigation, which indicates the page you are currently within, and the route to get to that page.

If you need to find a page quickly, or you can't remember where you saw a certain page, refer to the Site Map, which lists every page on the entire website.

Toolbox

A toolbox is available from all pages. It can be found above the advertisement on the top right hand side of each page. Each icon is a button that provides access to a commonly used feature - Print Page, Send to a Friend, Add to Favourites, and Help.

New channels and pages

As can be seen in the navigation, Hemscott.com is now split into several clear 'channels'. Some of these are completely new; others are made up of sections from the former site, which have been grouped together to form a channel.

• Companies - Search comprehensive fundamental data on 2,200 UK and Irish listed companies. Keep up to date with upcoming events, set up price alerts, and view latest webcasts.
• Markets - What is happening on the markets right now. Data for UK and International markets, as well as commodities and foreign exchange rates.
• News - Read news from the LSE & Thomson Financial in real time. Get an unbiased opinion on all the top stories by reading the latest comment from the team of journalists at Hemscott.
• Advisers - Offers a complete listing of the corporate advisers to the UK listed companies. Also includes industry-recognised rankings of top.
• Library - An invaluable collection of investor resources from Hemscott and our partners.
• My Money - Hemscott have teamed up with Smart Quotes to bring you this new section. Look up the best rates for savings, mortgages, and insurance.
• My Time - When you find yourself with a spare five minutes, try out our fiendish Sudoku puzzle, or enter one of our competitions.

We have added several new pages to Hemscott.com's free resources, which should help you get more from Hemscott's unrivalled data. Some are mentioned below in more detail.

Page name changes

If you can't find the page you're looking for, fear not, it may be that the page has a new name.

News & Comment, is now simply called News. The main page for this section is the page that used to be called HS Today, or referred to as Latest Comment, edited by the Hemscott Invest team of journalists.

Within the News channel, The Week Ahead is now called Corporate Calendar

Corporate Advisers section is now simply referred to as Advisers

Hemscott's Portfolio Manager is now simply called 'Portfolio', and can be found within the Companies channel - it's just underneath Company Search.

Company search

The company search is now more informative, and easier to use. The various searching options are more clearly defined, and the detailed results means you get to the company you're looking for quicker than ever.

Company fundamentals

There have been some major changes to the company fundamentals section. A new enhanced company summary page gives you a concise overview of the chosen company.

Down the left hand side you will find links to more detailed financials, all of which are available free of charge to registered users.
